A brilliant and understandable take down (without the esoteric step ladders) of our malaise as humans. It is all about FEAR, and so many humans are guided into doing things that a RATIONAL person would simply dismiss. If they can keep the fear on an INVISIBLE ENEMY they grow in stature. In the early '80's I was given a childrens story to read called 'The Last Unicorn' by Peter S. Beagle which became an image that I created as part of an 'arsenal' of resistance 'protocols' that I used to 'undermine' the apartheid regime. It is about a RED BULL that IS BLIND and has a heightened sense of smell: it SMELLS FEAR. It also hates UNICORNS and is determined to drive them all into the sea. The last known living UNICORN stumbles upon this modus operandi and hence gains COURAGE which causes the bull to shrink in stature and hence lose its power of dominance. As a performance artist, I created a RED BULL mask as a symbol of the repression of apartheid South AFrica and performed (created awareness) of this modus operandi in nightclubs/fashion ramps/streets/bars for more than TEN YEARS i.e. well into post apartheid. The message remains the same. You can imagine my surprise in 1995 when an energy drink product called RED BULL, was introduced to the world.....in DURBAN, South Africa....with a completely different INTENT.
